Weddings Going Green

This is the hottest trend right now for weddings in 08 & 09. If you are planning a wedding, you have probably thought about having it go green! Here are a few tips on helping make your wedding environmentlly friendly.

* Have the ceremony and reception at the same location, or at least near to each other to avoid having your guests drive between the two.

* Rent real glasses, dishes, and cloth napkins, to avoid using disposable plates, etc.

* Find a florist that uses flowers from local and/or organic farms.

* Use potted plants in place of cut flowers for centerpieces. These can then be given as gifts or enjoyed in your home.

* If you want to have favors, consider seed packets, bulbs, lucky bamboo or organic tea.

* Instead of beeswax or paraffin candles, use soy candles. They burn longer and cooler than traditional candles.

* Consider buying a vintage dress and tuxedo from a resale clothing store. Choose a simple dress and suit that you can wear again.* Go for 100% recycled, partially recycled or completely tree free papers from wedding invitation suppliers. If you are interested in making your own invitations, the choices are unlimited. Encourage guests to recycle their invitations, or have seeds embedded in the paper so that guests can plant the invitations and enjoy the flowers that grow from them.

Wedding season sure is in session!! We have been going straight for weeks. But we are getting a break. This weekend we are heading out of town to spend time with our families. Then next week we are at it again with 2 weddings. This is such a wonderful time of year!!

Budgets

I spoke to a bride the other day that was working on her budget. She told me that I really needed to have a budget calculator on my website. So, I worked up the numbers and have came up with a realistic budget for the Columbus and surrounding areas. All cities are different; different vendors, locations, cost. Okay - wow. It is has been a while since we posted. Well, to update you, we have been very busy lately here at Maddox Entertainment. First off, our organization that we started - Columbus Area Wedding Professionals - has taken off quite well. We had our second Bridal Show in January and in February we launched a monthly meet and greet - Wine & Weddings. I will have a new posting more about that shortly.
The last several months have been a "down" time for us. We don't do near as many events in the winter months than we do the rest of the year. But that doesn't mean that we haven't been busy. We have taken this time to complete our home office, do some home improvement projects around the house and get organized for the upcoming Wedding Season!!! This next weeks kicks off our wedding season and we are wedding strong almost through the end of October. (Had to get those home projects in while we could!!)

Wow, we haven't posted in a while. Things have been very busy for us. We are now a full time Entertainment company. I left my radio station job a couple of months ago to work on our business full time!! It have been very exciting.
